Freshwater offers a range of workshops and storytelling sessions for KS1 & KS2 to bring languages, communication and speaking and listening skills alive.

For Early Years - French Fun

Drama workshop for Nursery and Reception. The Early Years' Story Hunt gives you the chance to bring a magical, activity-packed, interactive drama workshop to your Nursery and Reception class, as well as giving them that all important early introduction to learning a Modern Language.

The Early Years Story Hunt complements the early years' goals of bringing music, dance, exploration and creative expression to the children. Equipped with their Hunters' Kit, the children will explore the basics of the French language using rhymes, songs, puppets and stories in a unique blend of focused listening and expressive, interactive drama activities. The workshop ends with the story of Mimi the Cat who gets lost in Paris - can the children help her to get home?

Drama workshop for KS1.

Launch your KS1 pupils into languages with a journey to the Galaxy of Communication. Watch your class blast off and grow in confidence as they explore and experiment with your chosen language. This is the perfect introduction to the study of MFL, or to improve confidence in those pupils who have been learning since Foundation Stage.

The pupils will visit different planets where they will practise vocabulary for topics such as days and months, parts of the body, animals and likes/dislikes with one of our specialist language facilitators.

For KS2 - Storytelling for MFL

Storytelling for MFL

Storytelling for KS2. Large groups of KS2 children can come together for these inspiring, magical storytelling performance presented in your chosen Modern Foreign Language (French, German and Spanish).

Using the total immersion method, these well-known, traditional tales are told in a highly interactive format in French, Spanish or German (please check with the Freshwater office for availability of particular languages in your local area).

The unique activities will develop the children's listening and speaking skills and increase their enthusiasm for language learning. The storyteller leads the children through the entertaining narrative with mime, characterisation and visual aids.

The familiar structure of the stories gives even the shyest child the confidence to use another language. Leap into Language Storytelling sessions are inspiring for absolute beginners and a really positive affirmation of their skills for more experienced learners.
